Five Foodie Favorites for an After-School Snack

By Anabelle Baum

Hungry after a long day at school? Here are the top five places to grab a delicious snack and get your caffeine fix before heading home to hit the books again.

Go Cups

1838 Second Avenue (95th Street)

Hours: 7:00 am - 10:00 pm

You’ve probably eaten here at some point or another since it’s so close to Trevor, but have you tried all that they have to offer? The PB Superbowl Acai Bowl and Peanut Butter Superhero Smoothie are among the most popular menu items at Go Cups, but my favorite is the Berry Hard. If you’re in the mood for something more savory, they have paninis and personal-sized pizzas. Who knew?!

Yorkville Bagel and Cafe

1821 2nd Avenue (between 94th and 95th Street)

Hours: 6:00 am - 8:00 pm

Known by many as “Bagel,” if there’s something you’re in the mood to eat, they likely serve it here. Bagels happen to be their bestseller, but their lo mein noodles are the tastiest treat on the menu. While you’re picking up your noodles and Snapple, remember to stock up on gum and candy, as they have a huge variety to choose from. Pro-tip: don’t forget to pick up flowers there for your friends in Choreolab!

Perk Kafe

1867 2nd Avenue (between 96th and 97th Street)

Hours: 7:00 am- 8:00 pm

Perk gets their coffee from Stumptown Coffee Roasters, a step up from what’s offered at Starbucks. What could be better with a cup of coffee than a donut from Dough? If coffee and donuts are not what you’re looking for, they also have tea, matcha, cold brew, and a vast selection of gluten-free pastries. As Perk’s website states, they “provide a home away from home for you to take a load off and get perked up!”

Bonjour Crepes and Wine

1442 Lexington Ave (94th Street)

Hours: 7:00 am- 11:00 pm

Every item on this menu is drool-worthy, but their most popular are the Nutella and dulce de leche crepes. If you don’t have a sweet tooth, you can always get an omelet or one of their delicious savory crepes filled with ham and cheese instead. With a menu that has over 20 crepe options, there is truly an option for every palette. Attention French students: try to convince your teacher that this is a cultural experience worthy of a field trip!

BobaMosa

1300 Madison Ave (Between 92nd and 93rd Street)

Hours: 9:30 am- 7:00 pm.

Although a bit far from Trevor, the tapioca bubble tea and gelato are worth the trek. BobaMosa has many choices of tea flavors (with or without milk) as well as different bubbles and jellies--the combinations are endless. My order is the medium passion fruit tea with 30% sugar and double bubbles. If you’re feeling more adventurous, you can try the beef bun, and if you like your food super cute, make sure to get one of their animal-shaped macarons.
